A Chicago Police officer shot and killed a man while responding to a domestic dispute in East Garfield Park.
Two officers were responding to a call at an apartment on the 200 block of North Homan, early Thursday morning.
The man’s girlfriend tried to wave the officers off, but then her daughter appeared in an upstairs window.
She told him that there was a man with a gun up there.
Police officials say the officers then saw a man with an automatic assault weapon in his hand, but he refused to put it down.
They say an officer shot him twice, after he raised the gun toward them.
The man died at the scene.
His name was not released.
Police say they recovered two weapons at the scene.
