Cardinal George celebrates pre-conclave Mass
Chicago’s Francis Cardinal George celebrated Mass Sunday at the Basilica of St. Bartholomew in Rome. He asked for prayers as he prepares for the conclave that will select the new Pope.
“Perhaps the will of God isn’t entirely clear to many of us,” the Cardinal said. “So I ask you for your prayers to help the Holy Spirit be present among us, to open our hearts and our minds to what is the will of God for his people throughout the world.”
The conclave begins Tuesday, when the Cardinal electors will gather in the Sistine Chapel to vote for a successor to Pope Benedict XVI.
