Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin apparently wants to keep his job for several more years.
The 68-year old lawmaker says he plans to seek a fourth term in the Senate in 2014.
Durbin last won re-election in 2008, garnering 68-percent of the vote against republican Steve Sauerberg.
He is currently the second ranking Democrat in the Senate.

I think it's time for Dick to collect his retirement, he suffers from I’m So Full of Myself-Itus. He doesn’t listen to the voters, and he is convinced that he has all the answers.

Illinois can't afford another Durbin term.

TERM LIMITS!!!! Sure he wants to run again; politics- where you get paid for NOT doing your job, spending others' $$ foolishly, get way too much vacation time and holidays, have outstanding health benefits, and then retire with a nice six figure salary!!
I'll say it again – TERM LIMITS!!!

Wouldn’t term limits make more of these unsavory characters?

I see your point Todd – But, maybe if they weren't IN for so long they wouldn't have the huge pension, and their other perks. I don't think that the term 'public servant' was meant to be what it has become – these folks take advantage. They are FAR from servants – and care very little about the citizens they represent. And for as much work as they do (??) couldn't this'job' be part-time so they could ACTUALLY WORK for $$$$?

The crooks will steal more & faster , If they had shorter terms .

And this is why he was pushing for the gun law (Haydia's Law) – - Looking for votes! I've come to the conclusion that there isn't anyone in Chicago/Illinois/Cook County Politics that does ANYTHING that doesn't have a financial/personal gain for them! I don't know how it is in other states – but Illinois seems to be at the highest of levels…Sad~

Can Illinois survive another four years of Durbin? Too many old men in the senate, time to vote them out, but then
he wouldn't get all the free junkets, pardon me, fact finding missions. Ugh!
Term limits needed.
