Three Tinley Park police officers jumped into action when they spotted two young girls who had fallen through the ice on a pond Thursday afternoon.
Police say the girls, who are in their early teens, were about 20 feet from shore in six feet of icy water.
The first officer to arrive saw one of the girls completely submerged.
Within minutes, the officers formed a human chain and pulled both girls to safety. Both girls were treated at a hospital.
They are expected to be just fine.
