Two teenage parents from Zion have been charged in the beating death of their 5-month-old son.
17-year-old Victor Javier Salinas-Corona is charged with the infant’s murder. He’s jailed in lieu of two million dollars bail.
His girlfriend, 19-year-old Aurora Escamilla, was released on $100,000 bail. She is charged with endangering the life of a child.
The couple’s infant was found at a home in the 2600 block of Horeb Avenue just before 4 a.m. on Thursday after someone called 911 because the boy was not breathing, according to a release from Zion police.
He was taken to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan where he was pronounced dead.
Police provided no details about what might have led to the slaying.
