The Chicago Police Department’s “Enforcers” football kicked off its 2013 season Sunday.
The kickoff party was held at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park.
The “Enforcers” are a non-profit organization that raises money for local charities including the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation and the Gold Star Families.
Superintendent Garry McCarthy was at the kickoff event. He played on the New York Police Department’s football team before coming to Chicago.
The “Enforcers” held their last pre-season practice in full equipment on Thursday at the McCook Athletic and Exposition Center.
The team is made up of sworn members of the Chicago Police Department and other law enforcement agencies including the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.
