Illinois House approves statewide ban on cell phones while driving

The Illinois House approved a measure to ban cell phones while driving.

The bill passed Friday, and now moves on to the Senate.

If approved, drivers would be forced to use hands-free devices or speakerphone for calls.

Police would also be able to stop and ticket drivers holding a cell phone, except during emergency situations.

76 Illinois communities, including Chicago, already ban talking on phones and driving.

It’s illegal in all of Illinois to text and drive.

I just hope it is easy money. Have you seen these brainless animals drive. They are worst than a drunk driver. It is about time someone tries to put a stop to these idiots, it is dangerous around them. Driving is a full time job, You have to keep your eyes on the road at all times.

I totally agree! What can possibly be so important to talk about until your out of your car! Your full attention should be on the rules of the road. The car is a mass weapon when your attention is on the phone and not on the road. The Ban should be in all 50 states!

Agree. These irresponsible drivers are everywhere. I don't mind if they ram themselves against a wall and die but I do mind them hitting other cars and pedestrians. Once caught, their license should be suspended for a long period of time and they should pay a hefty fine as well.

I agree. Brainless since their brain is on the phone and not driving.
