A major bridge repair in The Loop gets underway Friday night.
At 10 p.m., the Wells Street bridge will be closed for nine days, as crews rebuild the decaying structure.
City engineers say it is an extensive and complex project.
The CTA Brown and Purple line tracks on the bridge will be closed during the entire time.
The CTA says one of every three inbound brown line trains will only go as far as merchandise mart. Others will switch over to red line tracks south of Fullerton Avenue
Free shuttle buses will in place to help move commuters’ over the river.
The bridge is expected to re-open on March 11.
