Thousands of people gathered in St. Peter’s Square today to hear a final general audience from Pope Benedict XVI.
He called for a renewal of faith from Catholics and spoke of his own spiritual journey.
He said loving the Church also means having the courage to make tough choices.
He also thanked Cardinals, Vatican officials, priests and the faithful worldwide for their support.
On Thursday, Benedict officially resigns and will be given the honorary title “Pope Emeritus.”
The Conclave of Cardinals will meet as early as Monday to choose his successor.
