A second winter storm in less than a week will bring a wintry mix and heavy snow to Chicagoland today.
The National Weather Service has put Northeastern Illinois, except Kankakee County, under a Winter Weather Advisory from 12 p.m. until 9 p.m. today.
A wintry mix is expected to spread from south to north during the morning hours.
As we go through the afternoon rain and snow will change to all snow and snowfall rates could be heavy at times.
Snow and blowing snow will likely make for a messy evening commute. 3 to 6 inches of snow are possible through Wednesday morning.
Light snow, with accumulations of up to 1 inch, is likely on Wednesday.
As of 10:30 a.m. there are no reported flight delays at either airport.
However several flights have been cancelled in advance of the storm. O’Hare has canceled 230 flights and Midway Airport 55 flights.
