Woman dies in accident on Eisenhower
A morning accident on the eastbound Eisenhower Expressway left a 29-year-old woman dead and three other people seriously injured and shut down the roadway for investigation of the accident, officials said.
According to Illinois State Police Trooper Brian Walker, the accident happened about 5:47 a.m. on the eastbound Eisenhower (I-290) at Kostner Avenue. He said that the accident involved two vehicles but had no details on what caused the accident, saying that would have to wait until reports come in from state police officials who will reconstruct the accident.
The road was closed during the investigation but all lanes have since been reopened, police said.
According to Chicago Fire Media, one person, a woman, was dead on the scene, and three people were transported in serious-to-critical condition, two to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County and the third to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Fire media said that the dead woman was taken to Stroger before being taken to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The woman, who was from Carol Stream, was not identified pending notification of the woman’s family, according to the medical examiner’s office
No other details were immediately available.
