It’s moving day for the University of Chicago Medical Center.
After five years of planning, patients are finally being transferred to the new building a block away today.
The new Center for Care and Discovery covers 1.2 million square feet, and has 240 single-occupancy inpatient rooms.
It cost $700 million dollars to build, and is estimated to be among the largest investments ever made on Chicago’s south side.
