The FBI is coordinating an investigation into possible human remains found near the Illinois-Indiana border.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office is trying to determine whether two sets of remains found in Thornton Township are human.

An FBI spokesperson said agents are currently involved in an ongoing criminal investigation near powder horn lake in south suburban Burnham, close to where the remains were found.
