Cops: Remains of 2 men found near Illinois-Indiana border

Police in the village of south suburban Burnham say they’ve found the remains of two people in a wooded area.

The remains were found east of Powderhorn Lake at the Illinois-Indiana border.

Police say the skeletal remains appear to be those of two men, and may have been there for a-year-and-a-half.

The area where the remains were found is in an abandoned manufacturing corridor.

The FBI tells WGN News its agents made the discovery using cadaver dogs, and that the ground had to be thawed-out to remove the bodies from under 3 feet of dirt.

Burnham police say the investigation is still unfolding, and added his village does not have any open missing persons cases.

The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is also helping in the investigation, and autopsies are underway at the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

So….they have stated that they have no missing persons cases in the area which implies that the remains are of unknown individuals, yet the reporter says that they were led to the location by use of cadaver dogs. Obviously, a tip has come in to make them take the dogs there and it is likely they already know the identities. Prayers out to the families involved.
