Charges have been filed against a man in a string of robberies across Chicago.
Jesus Rojas, 23, is charged with attempted murder and nine counts of armed robbery.
Rojas was caught during a car chase from the River North neighborhood to Bucktown late Tuesday night.
Investigators say Rojas had held up a Subway sandwich shop in the 800 block of North State street before driving off.
Rojas allegedly tried to run over an officer at North and Milwaukee avenues then crashed his car when the officer shot him.
Police say he’s responsible for 16 robberies at small restaurants and stores in recent weeks.
They say Rojas had been been having a difficult time and wanted police to kill him rather than take his own life.
He had no prior arrests or gang affiliation.
