An arson and homicide investigation is underway after firefighters found the bodies of two women in an apartment on the South Side.

The bodies were discovered Wednesday afternoon, after firefighters put out a fire at a home in the 8100 block of South Maryland.

Police say the victims were both stabbed.

They’ve been identified as 43-year-old Cherie Adams, and her 24-year-old daughter Curtria Duncan.

Both women lived at the home.

Autopsies will be performed Thursday.
