An American veteran from Northwest suburban Schaumburg is receiving a Knighthood from the country of France. 
The Daily Herald reports 88-year-old Jim Butz is being honored for the role he played in liberating France from Germany during World War II.
He fought in D-Day and The Battle of the Bulge.
His family was able to get the medal in advance and surprise him with it on Christmas.
The official ceremony will take place March 1st, at the French Consulate in Chicago.
