
One man is dead, after a car struck a group of people in the Cragin neighborhood.
It happened just before 1 a.m. Saturday morning on Central Avenue, just south of Belmont Avenue.
According to police, 38-year-old Mario Ortega was crossing the street with three women when they were all hit by the car.
The car drove north on Central Avenue and hit a few more cars before coming to a stop.
The car’s driver was taken into custody, police said.
Ortega was pronounced dead at Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center
The three women were taken to area hospitals. One was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, one to Loyola University Medical Center, and one to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Drunk, high, or texting while driving. Make sure he never gets behind the wheel again!

Too many pedestrians bet their lives that the cars they are walking in front of, contain drivers who are not;
distracted, drunk, having a heart attack or other health issue, insane, fleeing the police or someone else, or a combination of the above. When they lose that bet, it usually is a very sloppy clean up.

My family and i personally knew the man Leroy Bobo killed. Mario ortega was a wonderful man and didint serve to die this way. This man has left five children including a 5 and 3 month old baby orphans. I hope justice gets done and this man is in jail for a long time. he cannot even begin to imagine the pain his wife and children are goin through….. May Mario Ortega Rest in Peace…..
