A Will County judge will hear arguments Tuesday on whether to grant Drew Peterson a new trial.
If defense motions are not granted, both parties will immediately move forward with a sentencing hearing.
Peterson, a former Bolingbrook police officer, was convicted of murdering his third wife, Kathleen Savio.
His fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, has been missing since October, 2007.
Peterson’s defense lawyers will argue that former attorney, Joel Brodsky, was “ineffective.”
Judge Edward Burmila has set aside two days for the proceedings.
