Report: Jackson Jr. expected to plead guilty to federal charges
Politico.com is reporting that former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. conspired with his wife Sandi to illegally spend $750,000 in campaign funds.
According to Politico, other expenses include a $43,000 Rolex watch, home renovations, fur coats and several other big purchases.
The news website reports that Jackson Jr. is expected to plead guilty to the charges against him, including making false statements, and mail and wire fraud. Prosecutors will recommend a prison sentence between 46 and 57 months for Jackson and a fine up to $100,000. A plea agreement could come some time Friday.
A source close to the case tells Politico that Sandi Jackson is expected to plead guilty to a tax offense.
Both Jacksons recently resigned from office, amid the Justice Department’s investigation into their finances.
