Chicago Public School officials released a preliminary list of schools that could close.
129 schools made the list, out of the 330 that CPS initially said are under-enrolled.
The four neighborhoods with the most closures are Burnham Park with 24 schools, Englewood-Gresham with 19, Austin-North Lawndale with 16 and Garfield-Humboldt Park with 14.
Tempers flared at a CPS community meeting in North Lawndale Wednesday night, the first of 14 to be held over the next two weeks.
Chicago Public Schools Chief Barbara Byrd-Bennett is expected to trim the list before unveiling a final one at the end of March.
