An attorney was found guilty of shooting to death the ex-girlfriend of former Chicago Bull Eddy Curry, and the couples’ infant daughter.
Frederick D. Goings, 40, was convicted on Tuesday of murdering 24 year-old Nova Henry and 10 month-old Ava back on January 24, 2009 in her condo in the South Loop. Henry was holding Ava at the time.
Henry had hired Goings in a child-support case against Curry. Prosecutors argued he killed her because their romantic relationship had ended, and she had hired another lawyer.
The jury reached their decision in just about four hours.
Henry’s family expressed their relief about the guilty verdict on Wednesday.
“We never doubted for justice that it would be served. Our hearts still ache knowing the last minutes of life were filled with such pain and fear,” said Yolan Henry, the mother and grandmother of the two victims.
