Mom, boyfriend charged with child abuse in West Town
Chicago police charged a mother and her boyfriend with child abuse on the city’s West Side.
Priscilla Forys, 22, and Julian Hernandez, 21, bit, scalded, and broke several bones of an eight-month-old boy, police said.
Authorities also found a three-year-old girl so badly neglected, that she lost weight and hair.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Hernandez is accused of putting the 8-month baby in a tub Jan. 30 with scalding hot water, causing 3rd degree burns to the knees, stomach and feet of the victim. A similar incident occurred on Dec. 28, police records allege.
Forys, of the 2300 block of West Grand Avenue, was charged with felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor counts of endangering the life and health of a child and contributing to the neglect of a child, police said.
Hernandez was charged with felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor endangering the life and health of a child, police said.
Forys and Hernandez, of the 2300 block of West Grand Avenue, appeared in bond court Saturday, and bail for each was set at $750,000.
Both children are now in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services.
Both adults are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
