Chicago to pay $4.1 million in fatal police shooting

The City of Chicago is expected to pay a $4.1 million settlement to the family of an unarmed man who was fatally shot by a Chicago police officer in 2011.
The controversial shooting was caught on video.
It shows officer Gildardo Sierra shooting Flint Farmer three times as he lay on his back June 7, 2011.

The shooting was the third one by Sierra in six months, and the second fatality.
Farmer was unarmed, but  Sierra claimed he pulled something out of his pocket.

An independent police review ruled the shooting was justified but police Superindentent Garry McCarthy said Sierra should not have been on the street.

Sierra later admitted to drinking “multiple” beers before going to work that night.  He was stripped of his police powers and has been working at the city’s 311 center since the shooting.

Interesting, we the taxpayer get a $4.1 million dollar bill and the self-admitted boozer who did the shooting is still picking up a paycheck? WONDERFUL OO7 Licensed to Kill, Police Force.

And the CPD through their union now wants pay increase? What a mockery of the taxpayers..Rouge cops who commit violations like these should be fired and have their assets frozen and seized in favor of the taxpayers through the city.

The article doesn't have all the facts. It was a repeat call from the girlfriend to the police on Farmer's abusive behavior. WGN reported at the time that the 911 call from Farmer's girlfriend featured her screaming, "He's kiling me." She was yelling the same thing when police got to the door and broke it down. When they broke in, she had been beaten up, and Farmer fled, pulling something shiny out of his pocket, and the police shot him. The video was a grainy cell phone recording, with flashes. Sierra reported that he was circling the body shining his flashlight on Farmer's body to decide what condition he was in. No gun or gunfire was identifiable in the video. The girlfriend sued the police.

You got that right. The family should get more than that considering that was third shooting in 6 months and the 2nd fatality. Come on. A cop drinking before going on duty and that's who they want to protect us? He is no better than the gangbangers, except he does it legally.
