Federal officials are stepping up their inspections of flowers coming into Chicago ahead of Valentine’s Day.
Agriculture specialists with U.S. Customs and border protection are paying particular attention to international flower shipments arriving at O’Hare.
They’re looking for diseases and pests that could harm the floral and agriculture industry in the U.S.
Chicago ranks sixth in the nation for receiving the most imported cut flowers during the Valentine’s season.
