Cause of Superbowl XLVII power outage revealed

The reason behind the blackout that delayed Superbowl XLVII was revealed Friday.

The power outage is being blamed on an electrical relay device manufactured at Rogers Park’s S&C Electrical Co.

The device has been removed from the Superdome and replacement equipment is being evaluated.

Entergy New Orleans, the power supplier for the game, said the device had functioned correctly at other high-profile events.

The 35 minute electrical outage resulted in a slew social media amusement for viewers and even some clever ad campaigns.
