2 fights erupt at Proviso West HS; Posted on YouTube

Two nasty fights erupt at Proviso West High School in Hillside, and that has police beefing up security there.

One brawl broke out in the cafeteria on Monday, and another fight took place on Tuesday. Two videos are posted on YouTube.

18 people were arrested, and the students could be expelled.

No one was hurt, and no weapons were used.

Extra police officers are at the school as a precaution.

Authorities say social media is adding to the problem.

“There’s so much misinformation put out on Facebook, Twitter accounts, that we have to react. And when we find threats, we review them and look into it, and try and see if the information is good or not,” said Joe Lukaszek, Hillside’s Police Chief.

School officials insist the school is safe.

"These people?" C'mon Sam, all high schools have fights with all different races. Don't try to make this story into something it's not. As long as nobody got killed, this shouldn't even be news.

I think you meant "expect anything MORE". Think about it. But, I don't expect much from you if this is what you are.

Maybe Sam means low class people. He'd be correct in that if that is the case. Low class people fight a whole lot, and cause trouble rather than do productive and positive things. A higher class person learns to work out differences and find peaceful solutions in young to mid-childhood (ages 5-10). Low class people do not.

And another thing…social media is disastrous in the hands of low class people, but it can be a benefit when trying to catch them doing wrong. That they posted to YouTube is an indicator of very low intellegence as well.

Proviso West H.S. isn't a horrible school. Yes the students are not what is portrayed to be the "typical" student, the vast majority of these students come from areas so prone to violence and such horrible conditions that wanting to get up to go to school must be an exercise in itself. I just hope that the attention the school has been getting over this is not blamed on the wrong things. I personally may have never finished high school or went on to college if it was not for the staff including teachers, consolers, coaches, etc. and it was not that long ago. It maybe that even some hostility, violence, and conflict resolutions classes could help, but in reality these are just children dealing with adult problems in a cruel world and acting upon that stress as a child would. Maybe we should ask ourselves how we can fix that.

Why is it always about lower class people when the upper class people are the ones committing mass murders. It's the upper class people that are committing fraud. It's the upper class people who are always embezzling. What is your point, SAM?
