Study: Peer pressure strongest impact on teen self-esteem
A new study finds that when it comes to body image, teen girls are most influenced by friends and not by looking at thin models on TV or in magazines.
The researchers surveyed more than 200 girls, aged 10 to 17.
They found that on the whole, neither TV exposure to thin ideals, nor social media use, led to feelings of dissatisfaction with body image.
Peer pressure had the greatest long-term effect on the girls.
