A well-organized clipper type system is making for a messy morning commute.
Light and fluffy snowfall totals have ranged from as much at 3.5” in northern counties to as little as a few tenths south of the Chicago.
The light snow from the clipper system should taper off as the morning continues, but lake effect snow is expected during the afternoon. As northeast winds pick up later in the day a burst of moderate to heavy snow is possible in lakeside counties.
By this evening a few flurries may remain, but the threat of accumulating lake effect snow will move farther east in northwest Indiana.
Another clipper system is forecast for Tuesday and though it won’t be as organized as this morning’s clipper the potential exists for 1-2” of new snowfall.
After a warm-up Wednesday the region may see a wintry mix Thursday.

The morning commute is bad enough but add snow to the mixture and people forgetting how to drive in this and you will have problems.
