Athletes beat top collete students in brain test

A study on brain power finds that athletes beat bookworms on at least one measure of intelligence.

Researchers studied English soccer players, NHL hockey players and French rugby players. They found their cognitive functioning was superior to top-rated university students.

Trained athletes actually have increased cortical thickness in the brain. They process visual scenes better and are superior at interpreting abstract movement.

Researchers believe the athletes ability to hyper focus enhances learning.
