The cost went up for Metra passengers who use 10-ride passes on Friday.
The 11 percent fare increase was approved last year.
10-ride passes now range from $2.75 to $9.25, depending on how far a person travels.
The increase affects about 25 percent of riders.
The fare hike is expected to generate $8 million more a year for Metra, which will go towards operations and capital improvement projects.

And I stopped riding the metra bc of last years fare hike. Screw the Metra. Makes more sense for me to drive my car on the highway. Cost more to ride train now than drive my car.
