The Cook County Sheriff is issuing a warning for senior citizens.
“Don’t let a stranger into your home, unless you have proper identification and verification.”
The warning comes after a 75 year old woman in Orland Park was robbed, after letting an unidentified man into her home.
According to police, the man claimed he worked for ComEd. He did not have identification.
The sheriff’s office has issued these tips:
Ask for the worker’s identification before opening the door.
Verify their identity with their company by calling the business, or utility company.
Write down their license plate number, color and vehicle description.
Call 911 if you suspect anything.
