Man shot on West Side is 4th sibling to die to gun violence

A man killed in a shooting on the West Side, is the fourth sibling to die from gunfire, said a family friend.

33-year-old Ronnie Chambers of the 8700 block of South Escanaba Avenue was fatally shot in 1100 block of South Mozart Street Saturday morning.

His sister LaToya was killed at age 15 on April 26, 2000. His brothers Carlos and Jerome also were gunshot victims, Carlos at age 18 shortly after Thanksgiving in 1995 and Jerome at age 23 on July 26, 2000.

Ronnie Chambers was sitting in the driver’s seat of a van when he and a friend were shot early Saturday morning. Chambers was identified by family members at the scene and later by police. The other man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital stable condition with gunshots to the buttocks and shoulder.

No arrests have been made.

Are you F-ing crazy! First who are they? I know exactly what your racist azz is trying to say.Racism and stupidity is not the solution in fact it is the main cause of the vilence in Chicago.I know because I grew up there.Dr King pegged it as one of the most racist and divided city he had ever been in.When you know that your city cares nothing for you because of your color hopelessness sets in an stews as it has in Chicago for over 40 years. The inner city never recovered after the riots,no money or resources were given to those communities. Fix that, but don't say stupid things!

You have a very simple mind if this is truly what you think. Check your history before you make a blanket statement.

Parents are to blame for their kids reckless behavior. Teach your kids right from wrong, raise them with morals and values, and lastly take responsibility for your actions. Dont have kids out of wedlock. Dont have kids that you are not able to support emotionally and financially. These are simple ideals that elude the inter city neighborhoods. If you dont raise your children properly you will be labeled white trash or n@@@@@s.

Everyone is talking about everything else other than the fact that this woman has lost 4 children to gun violence. It doesn't matter how a child was raise, when they become grown, they are out of your hands. Children don't have to be born out of wedlock for crimes to be committed. Children have always been born out of wedlock since the beginning of time. Everyone doesn't have their hands out looking for something free. The rich do much as wrong as the poor, it's just that you don't hear about all of it because they have the money to keep it quiet. Keep Racism out of the comments and pray for the lady who has lost her children.

This story is very heartbreaking and I just wanna send my deepest condolences out to this mom who lost all four of her kids due to gun violence. No mother should have to go through this. It's very senseless and a bullet doesn't have a name to it once it strikes, it really strikes and another life possibly gone. RIP to all her four angels.. Stay strong mommy. Just remember they may be gone but they will never be forgotten.
