
One person was taken to the hospital in critical condition after an overnight fire at a high rise in the Bronzeville neighborhood.
The fire broke out about 12:15 a.m Sunday in the 4200 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue. It started on the 2nd floor of the 16-story building, which houses a Senior Living residence.
The fire was put out within the hour. Fire officials enacted an EMS Plan 1, which automatically sends at least five ambulances to the scene, fire officials said.
The man injured in the fire was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition, officials said.
The cause is under investigation.
