The evening rush came to a screeching halt for many commuters heading to the northwestern suburbs Friday night, after a Metra train struck a car in Des Plaines.
It happened at 5:30pm near River Road and Northwest Highway, just yards from the Des Plaines Metra station.
Police say the car was on the tracks at River Road.
Witnesses say the car stalled and the driver got out of the car, just before the train hit it.
No one was injured but trains were delayed for more than an hour while the scene was cleared.
