This segment was just to fill a little time, correct? I ask because Ellen Warren seems to know little about cosmetics. First, they are not called “copy-cats”, makeup that is similar to a more luxurious brand is called a “dupe” in the industry. Next, there actually are reasons why they are more expensive. She admitted that the cheap liquid eyeliner “did the job”. Yes, certain cosmetics are more expensive because they have research behind them that allow them to do amazing things. Lancome liquid liner is flexible! You can wince, cry, exercise… it is going to act like rubber and not dry out and flake. Diorshow mascara? It will not budge until you use a remover. Nap proof, toddler proof, rain proof… shower proof! I suppose I am annoyed because she acts as though better cosmetic purchases are frivolous. I say raccoon eyes and flaky liquid eyeliner is pointless. I would like to see a beer “dupe” segment. Tell folks that it is silly to spend on Goose Island because Big Flats “does the job”. Let’s see how that works out.
