Three children were taken to an area hospital, one in critical condition, after fire crews battled a fire on the South Side this evening, officials said.
Chicago Fire Dept said they responded to a call to an apartment building in the 1000 block of West 76th St around 7:30 p.m. tonight. The small fire was quickly put out and two girls and a boy were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital. Chicago Fire Dept spokesperson said it appeared they had been playing with matches.
One of the girls is 4-years-old and in critical condition with second and third degree burns to 65 percent of her body, Chicago Fire Dept said.
The other girl, 16-years-old is in good condition with second degree burns to her hands. The 9-year-old boy is in good condition with no visible burns.
