The airline that doesn’t charge for baggage is increasing fees to board early.
Southwest Airlines’ general boarding procedure currently allows passengers early check-in for $10 each way.
The new fee, according to the company, will cost an additional $40 each way and guarantees passengers will be among the first 15 in line.
Early boarding generally allows passengers to secure space in overhead bins and to choose preferred seats.

$10.00 OK, $40.00 not so much. For that I switch to AA or UA.

I’ll board with the rest of the people. I don’t need to pay $40 to get on early.

Next, a $50 fee for the fun, happy, goofy Flight Attendants. The rest, who don't pay the *extortion fee* will get the asshole ones…

I am a very loyal SW frequent flyer customer and even pay a premium cab fare to go to Midway in Chicago rather than the closer O'Hare. Never got upset about the $10.00 early bird, but $40.00 is pushing the bar. I will be looking into my frequent flying on other airlines. This is a very bad customer relation move by what was one of the more customer friendly airlines…Shame on Southwest.

This is not right. You will lose a lot of customers. One of them being me. When does this change start?
