Rich Central High School Band is going to Washington, D.C. for Obama’s inauguration.
Band members won’t take part in the parade, but they will take part in an inauguration-themed band competition.
On Saturday, the school’s concert, jazz and marching bands, along with the majorettes and color guard will perform at the Presidential Inaugural Heritage Music Festival in Baltimore.
From there, it’s on to D.C.
The school initially tried to get a spot in the official presidential inaugural parade, but it was not selected.
The trip costs more than $850 a person, so the band held fundraisers.
But each student is paying their own way.
The group’s goal is to get as “close as possible” to get a good seat for President Obama’s inauguration.
