Teachers in the Grayslake-based school District 46 hit the picket lines this morning over money issues as they’ve been without a contract since last July.
And now a federal mediator already involved in the dispute has scheduled a mediation session for tomorrow with the Grayslake federal of teachers.
The union reportedly has already agreed to accept the proposal put forward by the mediator and the union says it hopes the school board will do the same tomorrow
School board president Ray Millington says the district is facing declining revenues and enrollments, but did offer teachers a one-thousand dollar stipend in the second year of a new contract.
There are 4,000 students in the district and as of now, no school again tomorrow.
