Thanks to an outpouring of donations, the South Shore Drill Team will get to strut its stuff in President Obama’s Inaugural Parade on Monday. The team has met its fundraising goal of $40,000 to send 50 members of the 300-member precision team to Washington for the historic event. The money came through shortly after WGN-TV aired a report indicating the group still needed $4,000 to make the trip.
One generous supporter, Tim Rand, Principal at Chicago Football Classic had already kicked in $10,000. “It’s a good organization,” he said, “very easy to work with.” Rand said it’s gratifying to see the team have an opportunity to perform for the President.
