Serial hair salon robber hits Niles location

The man suspected of robbing more than a half dozen suburban hair salons hit another location.

This suspect, caught on surveillance robbing a salon in Skokie, was spotted again robbing a salon in the 8200 block of Golf Road in Niles Monday morning.

Police say he showed employees a handgun and demanded cash, making off with an undetermined amount of money.

Police believe he’s the same man who robbed another salon in Niles two weeks ago, as well as others in Morton Grove, Glen Ellyn, Bensenville, and Lombard.

The guy must have a car as well as plenty of free time during the day. He never strikes in the evenings. If he is staying in the shelter system them he has to be in the shelter by 7pm and out by 7am. He probably works as a laborer intermittingly where he is paid in cash (this will help police in identifying him), which enables him to gas up his car so he can scope out and then travel to his selected crime site. This guy isn't dumb. He is targeting salons because the cash register is always by the door AND they are usually managed by women who are more likely to just hand over the money without a fight.

I hope they catch this guy. To point a gun at a defenseless woman who is WORKING for HER money is just cowardly. This person is very arrogant. He thinks he can outsmart authorities. He is probably a drifter. Seems like he is attempting to reach a set monetary goal… maybe he needs a certain amount of money to get somewhere warm for the rest of the winter. If he flees the area he will probably strike again to fund his travel along the route to wherever he is heading.
