Kate Middleton first official portrait unveiled

The Duchess of Cambridge called her first official portrait “just amazing.”  Her husband, Prince William called it “absolutely beautiful.”

That was probably a good thing, since not everyone agreed.

Artist, Paul Emsley’s portrait of Middleton features the 31-year-old mother-to-be against a dark background.  She is wearing a simple dress and her hair is down.

She reportedly asked Emsley to portray her as “natural” and not “official.”

The portrait was unveiled at the National Portrait Gallary in London on Friday.

It didn’t take long for the critics to chime in.

One critic said, “Fortunately, Kate looks nothing like this in real life.”

Another called the portrait, “the most bland and predictable Royal portrait in living memory.”

In the end, the royal couple raved about it and that might be all that matters.

Kate is such a pretty woman, wide smile and great teeth and a jolly laugh. It's a shame the picture of her is not a " Happy" one, She looks tired, bags under her eyes, and whats with that pucker mouth? 95% of the photos I have seen of Kate are stunning with that ear to ear smile…this painting makes her look like she was up for three days…and that nose?…that is so not Kates nose, thats the nose of a boxer who has been in one to many fights…Long story short, I hope the royals have a return policy with the artist, becuase that is not the kate we all know and love.
