The Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago rolled out a new app and online game this week — they pair perfectly with the museum’s exhibit “YOU! The Experience.”
“YOU! The Experience” celebrates YOUR mind and body, and how they work. But you don’t have to be at the exhibit to enjoy the app or the game.
Free for iOs and Android
If you’re looking to eat healthier in 2013, this app is a fun way to do it. Chew or Die offers a variety of food challenges, like Starch Enemy and Fiber Space, that ask you to make a healthy during one of your meals. Then, prove you completed the challenge by uploading a photo of your food to the app — other users will rate it and say whether or not you completed the challenge. You can add your Facebook and Twitter accounts to the app, so you can challenge people via social media to eat healthier, too.
MSI’s new online game – Code Fred: Survival Mode
The goal of this game is to help Fred survive being chased by a wolf in the woods, and along the way, you’ll learn about how the human body works. Solve mini-games to help Fred’s body run faster with a rush of adrenaline, heal from a wolf bite and fight off bacteria. The key to beating the games is understanding the physiological processes behind the actions, so you get a little biology lesson while you’re playing. And this game is addictive, so play with caution!
While the app and game are geared toward kids, teens and classrooms, I think adults will find them fun (and educational), too.
