Youth basketball coach killed in Calumet Park

Surveillance video from Geno’s restaurant in Calumet Park shows that someone targeted Daryl Minor for murder.

The 34-year-old husband and father of five was gunned down in his pickup truck early Monday morning.

Pafonda Minor, his wife, said he was a man who loved life and lived for his family.

Mrs. Minor tells WGN that her husband had some trouble with police more than ten years ago and had turned his life around.  She knows of no one who would have wanted him dead.

Daryl Minor was also a basketball coach for a Region Elite team that his sons played on.

Tonight, those kids are mourning a man they say was like a father to them as well.

Calumet Park police did not have anyone to talk with us but Minor’s family is begging anyone with any information about his death to call them.

A man who will be missed by his family, children and those he inspired.
