Bail has been set for a Chicago man who threatened to blow up at CTA bus, telling police he was “jihad against the white devil.”
23-year-old Caleb Russell was on a CTA bus in the River North neighborhood on Monday evening when he made the threat, according to police. The bus stopped in the middle of the intersection at Chicago Ave and Orleans where police officers saw it.
The Chicago Tribune reports that several passengers told police that Russell made derogatory and racial remarks and threatened to “blow this (expletive) up’’ and Russell also began yelling racial slurs at the officers.
Russell is charged with making a bomb threat, a felony, according authorities. A judge set bail at $90,000. Russell is scheduled to appear back in court Monday.
