18-month-old girl found safe after Amber Alert
An 18-month old girl who was the subject of an amber alert has been found safe in Bensenville.
The Deputy Police Chief of Bensenville, Frank Kosman, said Kimberly Deglado was found about a mile away from where she was last seen.
Delgado’s mother had briefly left the girl in her black Buick Rendezvous to go speak to a friend around around 12:40 a.m in the 900 block of West Irving Park Road. Delgado was left inside as the car was kept running.
Police say when the mother walked a few feet away to the entrance of an apartment building, a man got inside her SUV and drove away.
That vehicle was found around 6:45 a.m in the driveway of a home in the 11oo block of Argyle street in Bensenville. A resident of that home had gone outside to warm up their own car when they saw the vehicle in their driveway. The person who found the car called police. Police were able to match the vehicle’s description and arrived a short time later.
Police say the 18-month old girl was in the backseat of the car, crying but unharmed. Police do not think the man knew the child was inside the car.
Delgado was taken to a hospital as a precaution. She has been reunited with her mother.
Police are still searching for the suspect and are following a number of leads.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male who’s five-foot-four with a heavy build.
The man has black hair and was wearing a red sweater.
