Five republicans and 13 democrats are in the race to replace former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. The deadline for filing just was 5 p.m. Monday
Former congressman Debbie Halvorson was filing today.
Halverson challenged Jackson in the democratic primary and lost. Country Club Hills pastor Victor Jonathan and health care executive Joyce Washington filed yesterday.
The primary is February 26th and the general election will be April 9th .
