Firefighters discovered a body inside a home where a fire had broken out this evening on the Southwest Side, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
Fire department officials said the victim was a man in his mid 40’s.
Crews responded to the fire in the 8500 block of South Knox Avenue about 5:22 p.m., and were able to extinguish it by 5:45 p.m.
It is unclear whether the fire caused the man’s death, according to the fire department.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
