Chicago Police Grand Crossing District officers rescued several residents from a four-story apartment building fire in Chicago’s West Woodlawn neighborhood.
The fire was noticed by officers around 12:30 a.m., on the 400 block of East 66th Street with smoke coming out of the first floor of the building.
Officers ran into the building to notify residents and helped rescue an elderly woman and others, according to police.
Several residents in the building claimed there was no heat in the building and they were using space heaters to keep warm.
There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
